Our Bedroom Makeover Reveal

We just purchased our first home last month and before we even moved in I decided that our bedroom would be ALL white.

I knew it was going to be a challenge but thought it'd be fun to play with texture instead of color. I had no idea how much my husband and I both would love it!! It's so bright and clean and if I add ANY color it pops like crazy! I can't wait for Christmastime when I add holiday pillows and small decorations... it doesn't take much! :-)

Just to give you an idea of what we were starting with... here's a before photo of the bedroom when we moved in! First thing I did the morning after we moved in was rip all the old trim off and take off the old dirty looking outlet covers.

While I was painting our room and Brandon did trim, we also worked on upholstering this headboard! Brandon helped me with the parts you can't see (the wood frame and drilling holes, etc.) and I slowly worked on the upholstery, button covering and tufting in my spare time.

P.S. Tip for painting white walls with white trim: In order to add depth using the same color, I did a matte finish on the walls and gloss on the trim. This gave it dimension without changing the shade of white (and yes, there are more than 50 shades of white too). The paint we used was Benjamin Moore Simply White.

After going through quite the search for bedding - we finally found this bedding at Home Goods . It's by Nicole Miller and we got a King size for our queen bed since our bed sits pretty high.

Next I painted all our old bedroom furniture with Amy Howard Chalk Paint  from Ace Hardware and added new drawer pulls from Home Depot .

(Lamp: Pier 1 Imports  |  Nightstand Decor:  Home Goods  |  Wall Decor: Hobby Lobby )

Brandon ripped up the carpet and installed hardwood flooring. We picked something pretty traditional and dark for contrast with all the white going on! (Faux fur rug: Home Goods)

Found this little jewelry holder at Home Goods too...

Here's a look at the bottom of that dresser. It's crazy what new knobs and drawer pulls can do to restore a piece of old furniture!

I ended up finding everything for Brandons dresser at Hobby Lobby . I love to keep our decor God-focused and inspiring since we see it everyday, even if only subconsciously!

Hobby Lobby is perfect for that!

Found this frame at Joanns and the photo is from our most recent vacation to Puerto Vallarta :-)

Well, there you have it!!!! Our room is all done and we're onto our next renovation - the exterior!! Very excited about that one because it means my mom is coming to help me with the garden!! :-)

Brandon has already started building a new front door and it's time to order a new arch window for the office!! Can't wait to show you that process.
